Meet Dr. Basil
Welcome! I'm glad you want to get to know more. Here's a little bit about me:
Medical University of Bialystok (Uniwersytet Medyczny w Białymstoku), Poland in 1989 (MD in Stomatology), and University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1998 (Doctor of Medical Dentistry).
I am fluent in English, Polish and Russian. All of my staff is, too. We also have working proficiency in Slovak, Czech and Ukrainian. While a large percentage of my patients are not Polish, as a native of Poland, I maintain strong ties to the Polish community and Little Poland in New Britain.
I have offices that are conveniently located to major roads in both West Hartford Center and Downtown New Britain. Both locations have ample, free, off-street parking for patients.
I am a long-standing member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the Hartford Dental Society.
I have been honored with awards from the Academy of Operative Dentistry for outstanding achievement in operative dentistry, the American Association of Endodontists, for outstanding achievement in endodontic therapy, and the Academy of Dental Materials for excellence in dental materials science. I was also awarded "Best Dentist" in the CTNOW Best of Hartford Reader's Poll 2016; named a "Top Dentist" by the IAD, where I am listed in THE LEADING PHYSICIANSOF THE WORLD (Dentist Section); and received the OpenSource "Patient's Choice Award," among others.
After graduating, I continued to seek advanced training every year, especially in the fields of cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, implantology. I am accredited in 3 dental implant systems as well as 2 different invisible orthodontic treatments, and one very fast one-wire orthodontic system. In fact, I have 26 advanced certifications, overall.
Since 2005 I have proudly served as a Clinical Instructor at the UCONN School of Dental Medicine, one of my alma maters.
Main Professional Interests:
Although we are a highly-rated full-service practice, my favorite areas in which to practice are Restorative Dentistry and Cosmetic Dentistry, including full mouth reconstruction. For patients who are missing some or all of their teeth, dental implants provide a natural-looking, stable alternative to conventional dentures, bridges, and partial or complete dentures. Dental implants never develop decay nor require root canals, are generally more resistant to gum disease, and helps preserve the jawbone, which prevents premature aging. Nothing is more professionally rewarding than seeing a patient's tears of joy at an outstanding transformation.
I work in collaboration with a group of outstanding periodontists, oral surgeons and specialists in other disciplines, with whom I communicate regularly to help coordinate care for patients whose treatment needs require a multidisciplinary approach. I have also selected the finest dental laboratories for production of the highest quality crowns, veneers and other restorative and cosmetic products, and I have an onsite lab in my West Hartford Office, as well.
I use state-of-the-art equipment for the highest quality patient experience, in both my West Hartford and New Britain offices. These include digital (low-radiation) radiography, intra-oral cameras, modern dental hand-pieces, burrs and lighting, LED whitening systems, and computerized record-keeping, scheduling, and interfacing with insurers.
Call me at 860-561-2121. After hours, this rolls over to my cell phone. I often surprise patients who call at night or on weekends that I answer the phone. I am always available for emergency services that require immediate treatment.
Thank you for meeting me online, and I look forward to meeting you in person.
